Recall Notifications- Week 46 of  2020


In order to protect the legitimate rights and interests of consumers, the European Union, the United States, Canada and other countries have established special early warning and notification mechanisms. The European Union RAPEX system, the US CPSC official website and the Canadian Health Canada official website regularly publish information on the recall of unsafe products that appear in their borders. The United States and Canada will also implement joint recalls of certain products.

The 46th week of 2020, there are 15cases of consumer goods recalled in the US and EU markets, including0case of textile products and footwear,11cases of toys,2case of Accessoriesand 2 case of protective products. The recalled cases mainly involve safety issues such as health risks, excessive chemical components, small parts (choking), and swallowing hazards.

Recall reason: Health risk / other.

Violation of regulations: The product does not comply with the Personal Protective Equipment Regulation and with the relevant European standard EN 149.

Country of origin: China

Submitted by: Latvia

Risk details: The product is not provided with information about the manufacturer and no documentation has been provided that the product has been certified as protective equipment by the relevant body. Consequently, the product might not fulfil the health and safety requirements.

Mandatory measures: Withdrawal of the product from the market (By: Distributor).

Recall reason: Health risk / other.

Violation of regulations: The product does not comply with the Personal Protective Equipment Regulation and with the relevant European standard EN 149.

Risk details: The product bears a CE marking but is not certified as protective equipment by a relevant body. Consequently, the product might not fulfil the health and safety requirements and thus not properly protect if not combined with additional measures.

Mandatory measures: Withdrawal of the product from the market.

Violation of regulations: The product does not comply with the requirements of the Toy Safety Directive and the relevant European standard EN 71-3.

Submitted by: Croatia

Details of risk: The migration of boron from the toy slime is too high. Ingestion or contact with an excessive quantity of boron may harm the health of children by damaging their reproductive system.

Mandatory measures: Ban on the marketing of the product and any accompanying measures, Recall of the product from end users.


4.Toy crossbow set

Recall reason: Injuries.

Violation of regulations:The product does not comply with the requirements of the Toy Safety Directive and of the European standard EN 71-1.

Country of origin: Poland

Details of risk: The kinetic energy of the arrows fired from the crossbow is too high which can lead to eye injuries.

Mandatory measures: Withdrawal of the product from the market (By: Retailer).

Violation of regulations: The product does not comply with the requirements of the Toy Safety Directive and the relevant European standard EN 71-3.

Risk details: The migration of boron from the toy is too high. Ingestion or contact with an excessive quantity of boron may harm the health of children by damaging their reproductive system.

Risk details: The nose can easily detach from the toy, generating small parts. A small child may put them in the mouth and choke on them.

Risk details: Small parts (the green crown and stalk from the fruit ) may be easily detached from the toy. A small child may put the small parts in the mouth and choke on them.

10. Doctor play set

Cause of recall: Choking, Injuries

Compliance: The product does not comply with the REACH Regulation.

Risk details:The cuff blood pressure monitor contains an excessive amount of bis (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) . This phthalate may harm the health of children, causing possible damage to the reproductive system.

Mandatory: Recall of the product from end users, Withdrawal of the product from the market.


11. Toy pushchair

Cause of recall: Injuries.

violation of regulations: The product does not comply with the requirements of the Toy Safety Directive and the relevant European standard EN 71-1.

Risk details: The pushchair has only one safety lock and is not sufficiently resistant to load. As a consequence, it can easily collapse and a child playing with the pushchair may fall to the ground.

Mandatory measures: Import rejected at border.

Risk details: The product contains an excessive amount of cadmium.Cadmium is harmful to human health because it accumulates in the body, can damage the kidney and bones, and it may cause cancer.

Cause of recall: Microbiological.

Compliance: The product does not comply with the requirements of the Toy Safety Directive.

Country of origin: The Netherlands

Risk details:The liquid in the product is contaminated with micro-organisms, almost exclusively of Burkholderia cepacia.The product can be damaged during play and fluid may leak out. If the person using the toy has skin injuries, germs may enter the body. Burkholderia cepacia may cause infections such as pneumonia, wound infections and sepsis, especially in immunocompromised people.
